Link Popularity: Placing Text Links on High Pagerank Websites

January 27th, 2008 by Simeon

As you know, the quantity and quality of links that are pointing to your site are an important factor in search engine ranking. Various methods are used to increase the website’s link popularity.

One of them is the text links ads method. The webmaster displays on a high ranking website a headline with a short description and includes the link to their website. The search engine spiders visiting those websites follow the links. And because these are one-way links, they have a higher weight in the website’s ranking calculation.

Most webmasters prefer obviously to place their links on highly ranked websites or directories. The higher the Pagerank of the website offering you a one-way link, the better for you. In fact, the most effective quality links are those placed on PR5 websites or higher. One such interesting web directory I recently came across is asondheim.org.

Some webmasters buy text links at a monthly basis (recurring billing). They place the inbound links on high ranked websites and pay an agreed fee every month. This means that if you don’t pay your monthly fee, your link will be removed and you’ll no longer have the benefit you were looking for in the first place: having a quality link pointing to your website from a high ranked website.

But there is an interesting alternative: some text links directories offer the possibility of placing a permanent link with no recurring billing. So, no risk of link removal. I was surprised to notice that those one-off payments for a permanent link can costs as little as $1-$5. This is a cheap and highly cost-effective method of increasing the link popularity. Usually, webmasters who want their website to appear at prominent places, such as the homepage or the top of a category page, have to bid more than the others. They decide what they want to pay in order to appear where they want.

It is easy to identify such text links directories which offer quality and cheap permanent links to your website? Just make a search via Google, using keywords such as ‘buy cheap text links’ for example, and you will be impressed.

Yuwie – Make Friends and Get Paid

January 1st, 2008 by Simeon

Yesterday, after I sent my New Year’s wishes to Sylvia, a friend of mine, she sent me a message inviting to have a look at her weblog. She also mentioned the existence of a relatively new social networking website called Yuwie which pays people for using it. I was curious and I decided to have a look. I went to the website and watched the whole introductory video message inviting newcomers to join in and explaining the earning potential.Yuwie offers all the features you would expect from any social networking website. What makes Yuwie unique is the fact that it pays its members for using the site. And it is free to join and use.

Yuwie argues that others social networking sites are making an estimated $20 million a month while the users do all the work. Unlike these other sites, Yuwie is ready to share their revenue with the users.

What do you get paid for?

Yuwie pays you for every activity you have on the site such as changing your profile, posting on the blog, uploading picture etc… You get even paid every time another user looks at your profile or reads or watches the content you have created or posted. The revenue sharing rate changes is different every month. On the 15th of each month, Yuwie decides (based on how much they made in the previous month) how much will be given out to each user: an amount that you can track from the ‘earnings’ section of your profile.

How much money can you make?

The amount of money you make depends on how much you and your downline (up to 10 levels) interact with the site. The video presents an example of potential earnings based on the 10 levels of referrals and assuming a revenue-sharing rate of $0.50 in a given month and 3 referrals per each person at each level.

Level Nb Referrals Impressions Earnings % Earnings
1 3 3000 10% $0.15
2 9 9000 10% $0.45
3 27 27000 4% $0.54
4 81 81000 4% $1.62
5 243 243000 4% $4.86
6 729 729000 4% $14.58
7 2187 2187000 4% $43.74
8 6561 6561000 10% $328.05
9 19683 19683000 10% $984.15
10 59049 59049000 30% $8,857.35
Tot 88572 88572000   $10,235.49

This concept seems interesting. Many people nowadays are turning to social networking websites such as Facebook or Myspace to make friends and build up their personal or professional networks. Yuwie introduces here a revenue sharing concept which might interest more people. After all, who wouldn’t like to get paid for doing what they are already doing? Making money while making friends. Another source of income streams! If you are as curious as I am, you may have a look by going to Yuwie’s website.

New Year’s Resolutions

January 1st, 2008 by Simeon

Year 2007 is over.

This is the New Year. Time for introspection.

What does that mean? It is looking back through your life to determine what areas need improvement. Just look at your accomplishments during 2007. What did you want to do, but didn’t manage to do? Do you still feel the need to do it this year?

At the beginning of each year, people have the habit of making New Year’s resolutions. It has become a tradition. This is great! However, this usually doesn’t work out as planned.

By the end of January, maybe even earlier, most people have given up on their resolutions. By the end of the second month, they may not even remember what their resolution was.

What is the point of making resolutions if you are going to break them so quickly? Striving to improve your life is essential, but you need commitment. Yes, you need real commitment and willpower to carry out your resolutions. And of course, you need to make realistic resolutions. Avoid making unrealistic resolutions which can generate more stress and create feelings of failure.

This site insists on creating the lifestyle of your dreams. It is meant for people like you who aim at getting in better shape, physically, financially, spiritually and emotionally. Spending more quality time with family, relaxing more, exercising more, saving more money, paying off debts, eating less, improving our health, controlling weight, stop smoking or finding a new job, setting up new income streams, building or strengthening relationships, starting or boosting a home-based business, … all these are wonderful ways of creating a more fulfilling life.

They might well be among your New Year’s resolutions. But remember. You must distinguish between resolutions and wishes. Wishes are just wishes. They don’t have the commitment ingredient to succeed. Go beyond the wish tradition and start by making a plan. Determine beforehand when and how you want the resolution to happen. Use the well-known techniques to set your goals.

For that purpose, I would strongly recommend to attend in February or March, a free but very powerful seminar: Breakthrough To Success of Christopher Howard. I have attended many seminars of Christopher Howard and I can assure you that one of the best gifts you can offer to yourself and/or to your friend is to spend a week end with this electrifying, internationally acclaimed speaker and coach.

More on goals setting techniques and on Christopher Howard later. For now, I take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year!
